Frequently Asked Questions

  • General

    • How are review deadlines decided?
For most products you have two weeks to post a review for a product you have received from Criteek. In some cases, like products that depend on weather – like skis – may be longer. Sometimes Brands will dictate a different time frame. You will be advised at the time you request the product.
    • Do I need any qualifications to become a reviewer?
Not at all. All you’ll need is a passion for sport, and to know a fair amount about the products used in it. As long as you can present yourself on camera, give an honest opinion, and abide by our Terms of Service, you’ll be good to go.
    • How is my reviewer rank decided?
Criteek ranks its reviewers based on the number of reviews posted, the number of views on each review, and the rating your videos are given by shoppers. It is constantly changing (hopefully improving) and depending on what rank you rise to, you get a host of extra benefits.
    • How do I join the Criteek network?
All you need is a valid email or social address. Follow the links on the homepage to register.
    • Are there any rewards for successful review publication?
Yes! You can earn money, gain access to free products, and once you reach the highest level even start to get paid to appear on on CriteekTV
    • Is my content safe?
Absolutely yes. You retain all rights and simply grant Criteek a license to publish it (see Terms of Service).
    • If my video has been rejected? Will I be told why?
Yes, we always disclose our reasoning, and offer tips to improve for next time. Reasons for rejection include: Profanity, missed points (see Criteek U for what makes a good video), bias and dishonesty, and basically anything you wouldn't want your mother to see.
    • What is a seeded review?
Once you receive a product from a brand for review you have to post a review to the network within a specified time period. This is known as a seeded review.
    • What happens if I miss a deadline on a seeded review?
Missed deadlines without valid reasoning are serious. We lose trust from brands stores, and in turn, you will be deducted a large number of points, thereby reducing your standing significantly. If there is a valid reason, and you have informed us as such, once agreed, your points will not be deducted. Repeat offences will result in delisting from the network.
    • When will I be rewarded?
After creating an account you will receive your payments on a monthly basis with a month lag. For example, your January earnings will be paid at the end of February.
    • What happens if I decide to leave?
We'll be sorry to see you go, however, we will respect your decision if our relationship is not working for you. We request a one month notice period, in which we will prevent you from receiving any new product, and can organise your final payments. You have the right to take all your videos off of the Criteek network anytime you so choose. We reserve the right to do the same.

    • How am I charged for content I send to other sites?
During the Partner Innovation Program period, there is a simple table which details how much to add, as a set percentage, to your Content Pricing (fee per product feed per month). Here is the table:
      Dashboard set-up & subscription fees
For example, if you are paying $50 per product feed per month (for 10 products to only your domain = $500 per month) and you want to syndicate those product feeds out to an additional 4 domains, then you simply add 10% to the $50, so now you pay $55 per product feed per month (or $550 per month for 10 product feeds out to your domain plus 4 others); if you would like to syndicate to 8 domains, that charge goes to $57.50, or $575 per month for 10 product feeds out to your domain plus 8 others).
    • What is the minimum contract commitment?
During the Partner Innovation Program period, there is no minimum commitment, with one exception: when you turn on a product feed, you must keep it on for at least a month. This is our way of making sure you are not only selecting favorable reviews. That said, if, for any reason, a client wants to take down a feed and let us know why later, there is a switch to allow the client to do that.
    • What does it cost to have my products reviewed by your Content Partners?
First you upload all your product listings. This will insure that you see what existing VPR matches we have in our system for your products. It also helps us attract Content Partners for your products. When we signal, through our Criteek Dashboard, that you have VPRs available, you can turn those product feeds on. If you do, we will begin charging you a pre-agreed upon Content Fee (per product feed per month).
Should you want to seed product in order to increase review volume, gain exposure for new products, conduct targeted research on key strategic products, or run product testing programs, then you upload those products into our listing pool, set the limit on what level reviewer (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum) you would like to review those products, then ship those products directly to qualified Content Partners. The first products amounting to 10% of the number of products you have Content Product Feeds turned on for are free. After that, the charge is $250 per VPR during the Innovation Partner Period.
    • Does the Brand pay for this or do I?
